Feb 2015 eBirding Challenge

challenge-logo-2015Was January a good wetland birding month for you? We hope so! The January challenge, in honour of the  Asian Waterbird Census, was to upload  at least 15 lists from wetland habitats during the month. Please do finish uploading your lists by 5 Feb, so that we can do the tally.

But now it is February, and as each year, this month brings the global Great Backyard Bird Count! This is the third year in which India is taking part. During the GBBC last year India reported more species than any other country in the world (you can see more results from last year here). What will this year bring??

In recognition of the GBBC, the target for this month’s challenge focuses entirely on those dates. Here is the challenge: upload at least 20 lists during the four days of the GBBC (13-16 Feb).

As in earlier monthly challenges, each list should be an effort-based, complete list, of at least 15 min durationicon_tooltip. Of course, this does not mean that we should cease all birding activity during the dates before and after the GBBC — do continue to upload your sightings all through the month! But for the challenge, the lists from the GBBC are what will count.

Please upload all your lists by 5 March so that we can announce the results on 6 March. All birders who reach the target will be named and recognized on this website. One of these names will be chosen at random to receive a small birding-related gift in appreciation.

Here are the general rules of our monthly challenges. You can keep track of fresh lists coming in from India at this page.

Important. if you are new to eBird, please read this description first, and do take a look at the Beginner’s Guide.
